The Video 1.15.1 is of an actual encounter between an MRI patient and the MRI technologist Frank. Frank was trained in Comfort Talk ® at North Shore MR Imaging and was very skeptical at the beginning. Two years after his training, he was awarded the Star of Excellence at his hospital for the “calming ways he has with his patients.”
The patient in the video is claustrophobic. His large bodyweight makes it difficult for him to lie down without getting short of breath. He is scheduled for gastric bypass surgery and needs an MRI of the brain. Frank has to get a head coil over the patient’s head. Watch how easily this happens after Frank helped the patient to relax. Note which Comfort Talk ® techniques Frank uses and how seamlessly they fit into his flow of work.
