Elvira Lang, MD, FSIR, FSCEH
A former Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School and the founder of Comfort Talk ®, Dr. Lang has been a major contributor to the study of procedure hypnosis for a number of years. As an interventional radiologist at Stanford University, the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, she trained nurses, doctors, and technologists from a variety of disciplines. She is past president of both the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. She has authored more than 140 papers and book chapters and is an internationally recognized lecturer.
Larry Burk, MD, CEHP
A radiologist and pioneering researcher in MRI of the knee and shoulder, Dr. Burk held faculty positions at the University of Pittsburgh, Thomas Jefferson University, Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Duke University. He is a founding member of the Safety Committee of the Society for MRI. He co-founded the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine in 1998. Dr. Burk was the Integrative Medicine Education Director until his departure from Duke in 2004 when he founded Healing Imager, PC, to focus on teleradiology and integrative medicine consulting. He is an internationally renowned lecturer. In 2012 he published Let Magic Happen: Adventures in Healing with a Holistic Radiologist.
Ricardo Bianco, MA, PsyD
Dr. Bianco is an experienced psychotherapist with special expertise in hypnotic interventions and group interactions. He works in private practice at the Joseph Smith Community Health Center Allston/Waltham, MA, and is Adjunct Faculty at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. At the Cambridge Health Alliance, his research focused on interventional psychiatry, behavioral medicine, and complementary alternative medicine (CAM). At the Boston Center for Clinical Research he managed anxiety and depression. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
Rebecca Johnston, PhD
Dr. Johnston has worked as a training Counseling Psychologist at the University of Utah, as Postdoctoral Fellow and as a Senior Clinical Research Associate at Yale University of Medicine. She has also held leading positions including Director of Psychological Services at the DeNicola Center for Women’s Health, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. Currently she is dedicated to her private practice specializing in hypnotically-enhanced behavioral medicine. She is also on staff as a Psychologist at the Center for Neuropsychology, Learning and Behavioral Medicine, St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH. She leads the training groups of the basic and advanced workshops for the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
Eleanor Laser, PhD
Dr. Laser is a licensed psychologist with extensive experience in the use of hypnosis for healthy outcomes for her private clients and in a number of medical settings, including childbirth. Widely published, she has taught hypnosis techniques to psychologists and medical professionals around the world. She is an Approved Consultant for the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). Dr. Laser has served as a trainer at the University of Iowa Hospital Department of Interventional Radiology, where she taught Methods of Non-Pharmacologic Analgesia, and Communication and Rapport Building Skill Development. As a research affiliate at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, she partnered with Dr. Lang to develop training programs in rapid rapport and hypnosis adapted to the fast-paced nature of the modern patient encounter.
Samuel M. Migdole, EdD, ABPH, FASCH, LADC I
Dr. Migdole is a Licensed Health Care Psychologist and Certified School Psychologist in Massachusetts. He is a clinical child psychologist by training and a founder and president of North Shore Counseling Center in Beverly and Topsfield, MA. Dr. Migdole is a Diplomate and past President of the American Board of Psychological Hypnosis. He has served as President of the New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis, Board Member of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, Psychology Representative to the Blue Shield of Massachusetts Specialty Committee, Medicare Reviewer, and Board Representative to and Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
