Dr. Elvira Lang-Anderson and Dr. Gloria Salazar Speak at SIR

This past April 2025, Dr. Elvira Lang-Anderson spoke at the SIR25NASH 50th Anniversary Annual Scientific Meeting alongside Dr. Gloria Salazar. Their session offered powerful reflections on their personal and professional journeys in Interventional Radiology, highlighting themes of resilience, leadership, and navigating the balance between career and life. Drawing from their own experiences, they shared insights on overcoming challenges and shaping meaningful careers in academic medicine.

They discussed their “Arcs of Life,” which traced parallel paths that began in Germany and Brazil before they both made the bold decision to pursue Interventional Radiology in the United States. The session showed the long-term impact of mentorship and collaboration, as Dr. Salazar—once an early research assistant on foundational work that led to Comfort Talk®—has since become the first Latina Division Chief in Interventional Radiology in the U.S., now serving as Vice Chair of Radiology at UConn and Program Chair of SIR.
