Comfort Talk® Training at Valenciennes General Hospital in France

We had the opportunity this past November to train clinicians at the Women’s Imaging Center at Valenciennes General Hospital in France in Comfort Talk® techniques, under the leadership of Dr. Edouard Poncelet. The training highlighted the hospital’s strong commitment to patient-centered care, with an emphasis on communication, presence, and team-based approaches to improving the patient experience.

What stood out from this training  was the depth of mind–body expertise already embedded within the team. Several staff members had prior training in hypnosis, and one radiology technologist is a certified sophrologist specializing in relaxation techniques—an expertise formally offered to patients through the hospital. This integrated approach really demonstrates how a culture that values communication and presence can meaningfully transform patient care across entire clinical teams.
